INTRODUCTION TO MACHINE QUILTING

Fee: $20 plus supplies

Finish your quilt with machine quilting on your home machine.  Learn from a nationally acclaimed teacher and author.  Renee will teach you the basics using the Skillbuilder Sampler panel that she designed.

PATRIOT DREAM QUILT N' TOTE

Friday, March 23rd  9:30am-4:00pm at the Brigham City Emergency Services Building

Class Fee: $20 (includes a light lunch) plus supplies

Prerequisite: Introduction to Machine Quilting class

Booklet purchase is required.  Pre-order kit at least one week in advance from Village Dry Goods.  Kit price of $51.99 includes all supplies needed to complete the bag, batting  and booklet. 

Getting more comfortable with free motion quilting on a domestic machine?  Jump to the next level by selecting block and border designs to quilt a Patriot Dream sample pane.  Try a variety of transfer methods, tools and free hand designs on differing blocks of various sizes.  Quilted panel may be stitched into Patriot Dream Quilt n' Tote at home.

FEATHER FUNDAMENTALS

Saturday, March 24th  9:30am-4:00pm at the Brigham City Emergency Services Building

Class Fee: $20 (includes a light lunch and pattern) plus supplies

Prerequisite: Introduction to Machine Quilting class

Pre-order tablerunner kit at least one week in advance from Village Dry Goods.  Kit price of $33.49 includes fabric and batting. 

Have fun and develop feather quilting confidence by learning the rhythm and motion of formal, traditional, and free form feather styles quilting on a domestic machine.  Hands on practice using Skillbuilder 2 and a "Quilt-as-You-Go" table runner will build quilting skill for both basic and enhanced feather designs.  Select feather designs and experiment with different tools, transfer methods and freehand feathers.

QUILTER'S KINDERGARTEN
3rd Wednesday of the month 4pm-7pm
$20 per session

Teacher: Susan Wiley

Learn the to quilt from one of our best. These classes are customized to your needs.  Pick a project and Susan will help you with fabric selection, basic block construction, proper pressing, and rotary cutting.  Come to as many sessions as you need.  Since we will be sewing in class, you will need to bring a working sewing machine.

MACHINE APPLIQUE
Tuesday, February 14, 2012 1pm-4pm $20 
Teacher: Laurie Smith
In this class you will learn to create invisible applique with your sewing machine.  This class is suitable for beginners or those quilters who want to make appliqué blocks in a day rather than a month. Applicable to machines with adjustable zig-zag. Book by Kim Diehl required.

HAND APPLIQUE
Tuesday, March 6, 2012, 1pm-4pm
/ $20 

Teacher: Laurie Smith
Learn the basic techniques to produce perfect placement and invisible stitches.  We will work on simple appliqué designs.  We will discuss thread, needles, pins, and marking pencils.  This class is suitable for beginners or those quilters who have done some appliqué and are looking to improve their skills.  This is a technique class.  Pattern provided in class.

GAMMILL CLASS
2nd Thursday of each month 10am-2pm

Teacher: Coleen Beutler
$25 deposit per class required. 

The Basic Certification Class (Part 1) 4 hours $70 will teach you the basics of long arm quilting and get you comfortable with the machine before quilting on your own quilts.

In the Sampler Class (part 2) 5 hours $100 you will learn to do freehand overall designs, pantographs, stenciling motifs, work with templates,  make perfect circles, lots of meandering styles, echo quilting and more.

The certification process involves a four hour class of long-arm machine instruction and practice time working on a quilt for charity (Basic Certification Class Part 1).  The optional five hour Sampler Class includes materials for making a sampler quilt.

Upon successful completion of the course, you may rent the machine for $15 per hour.

Basic Certification classes are taught the 2nd Thursday of each month from 10am to 2pm.  Sampler Classes are scheduled on an individual basis.  Classes are held at Village Dry Goods.

BINDING CLASS

Finish your quilt with perfectly placed binding.  Learn cutting options, miter quilt corners, scalloped edgings, and finishing techniques so that the binding is smooth and flat.  Once you've learned the techniques, your quilts can have a professional appearance.

BORDERS CLASS

Learn to create straight and mitered borders that lay flat and fit perfectly; including beautiful, professional looking scalloped borders.

 


HAND QUILTING CLASS

Teacher: Susan Wiley
Learn the ins and outs of hand quilting from a skilled hand quilter.  It is a beautiful, traditional finish to your quilt and perfectly portable.  Hands on experience with knots and stitching.

HAND PIECING
Please call the store for available times $15
Teacher: Laurie Smith
Learn everything you need to hand piece your blocks: template making, marking, sewing the seams and assembly. We will make a LeMoyne Basket Block... you may get addicted to this cute block and age-old technique.

     The price of the required book or pattern may be included in the class fee as specified in the class description.
     You must register 5 days prior to the scheduled class. Payment in full, including required materials, must be paid to hold your spot in the class.
     Class refunds will only be given if canceled three days before the scheduled class.
